HNC/HND in General Engineering

Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNC Diploma in General Engineering (QCF) 500/8827/0

Part time two year course (1 day per week)

Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in General Engineering 500/8825/7

One year part time course (one day per week) if recognition of prior learning can be achieved; or three-year programme (one day per week).

 

The HNC/HND in General Engineering provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the multi-skilled maintenance engineering sector.

Successful completion of the HNC/HND programmes means you will gain a nationally recognised, vocationally specific engineering qualification to enter employment as an engineer/ technician - or progress to Higher Education Vocational Qualifications or apprenticeships.

The HNC/HND in General Engineering programmes will help you to integrate and apply electrical/mechanical maintenance engineering principles to both a vocational and professional context.

The programmes develop core skills and knowledge of the subject discipline through a sustained programme of development which not only develops essential skills but also the development of key abilities: employability, enterprise and skills.

On commencement of the programme, you will be introduced to core maths and science modules, in which you will be encouraged and given the opportunity to extend your mathematical and scientific understanding. Theoretical and practical activities are designed to enhance mathematical and scientific abilities and develop confidence in these core, important skill areas.

The HNC/HND develops higher level engineering skills in a technological and management context and provides you with opportunities to develop a range of skills, techniques and attributes essential for successful performance and progression in working life.
