ABOUT THIS COURSE

As an excellent introduction to practical surface grinding, this course provides instruction in safety, use of drawings and measuring equipment, work-holding, grinding wheels and a range of surface grinding operations. Instruction takes place both in the classroom and in Seta’s state-of-the-art workshops.

This course is ideally suited to those with little or no previous surface grinding experience.

 

CONTENT

  • Safety relevant to surface grinding:- eye protection; extraction; use of guards; work holding consideration
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and symbols
  • Measuring instruments relevant to surface grinding:- types, care and use
  • The surface grinding machine and its controls
  • Work holding methods
  • Grinding wheels:- Please note that persons required to change, mount or dress abrasive wheels require training in accordance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER). Please ask for details.
  • Surface grinding operations
  • Faults recognition:- guidance on surface grinding faults and means of avoiding them
